We Love Visitors

Spencer and Rick went ice fishing at the Gorge and caught these fish plus a few more big ones that "got away."

Hayden and Boston were instant friends. They both have happy fun personalities and kept us laughing with funny choice of words. Boston provided us with little adventure when he clogged the toilet (for the 3rd time) and flooded the bathroom while the guys were gone. We had a great time. Thanks for coming guys!

Funny

Quotes from the last couple of weeks I keep forgetting to post;
"It felt so delicious." talking about spaghetti
"What in the world?!" an often used phrase
"C'mon fishing poles make some fish!" We thought it was so funny that he would think the poles make the fish rather than catch them.
"Oh great! Just great" whenever something goes wrong
and of course so many more then I could list. Boston is a delight!

This is the Way We...

smash bananas for banana bread.
I put the bananas in a zip lock bag and Boston used his hammer and hand to smash them up. Then I just snipped off one of the corners and we squished them right into the bowl. So easy! Smashing the bananas is always my least favorite part of making banana bread.
PS Today was Bos' first full day of clean underwear. (I have learned that potty training is a journey not a destination.)

Go Canada!

Boston can't help cheering for Canada since;
1. he is named after a Canadian.
2. they sent him this great Vancouver 2010 sweat suit for his birthday. Thanks!
3. and last but not least we are really looking forward to our trip to Victoria this summer.

1st Ice Fishing Trip

This was Boston's first ice fishing trip, also the first trip for my since I swore off ice fishing a few years ago. Spencer really wanted to take Boston and I thought it might be best if I was there to keep an eye on Bos while Spencer kept his eyes on the fishing poles. We got all bundled up and headed out for an evening of fishing on the Gorge. I was frozen and bored within the hour but the boys had a great time. Boston shoveled the snow, rolled and ran all around. I had to keep keep reminding him to watch where he was going because he would run right up to a hole before going around it. (Gave me a good scare a couple of times.) We caught a ling shortly after sundown. Boston calls it the ouchy fish. He was scared to death of it, I think because it was wriggling around. Spencer just tossed it on the ice near the tent to bring home with us and went back to fishing. About an hour later when Boston was digging in the snow near the tent the fish flopped around and Boston screamed like I have never heard before. It was so funny but so scary for him.
Spencer cooked the ling up late at night and thought it was really good. He said it had a unique good taste. I had just brushed my teeth so I didn't taste it.

Sunshine Between the Storms

The grounds manager built a large hill in the yard next door. Boston and the other kids had a great time sliding down and playing all over it.

Crystal Ice Festival

We went to Green River to see the ice sculptures done for the ice festival. It's amazing to see what people can do with ice. We were going to go grocery shopping after since we were in town but the weather was so snowy we decided to head home. When we reached the on ramps we saw that the stretch of free way to Rock Spring had been closed. There were at least five accidents we passed on the eastbound side of the freeway. We took it slow on the frontage road and made it safe and sound.

Valentines/Opening Ceremonies

My family came to visit last weekend. We spent the weekend celebrating Valentines and the Olympics. We decorated cookies, delivered Valentines to my family's hotel rooms, watched the opening ceremonies and went out to a Mexican restaurant. It was so much fun and a great way to break up the monotony of the bleak winter.

Burbot

Wow! Look at this string of burbot.
It is cold and slimy.

Check out the lower right corner... CORRECTION, lower left hand corner

These are the crawdads Spencer found in the stomachs of the burbots.

An Answer to Many Prayers

I am so excited for my Sister and Justin. They have been waiting for a long time to start a family and after many heartaches have decided to give adoption a try.
Check out their profile and keep them in mind.

Ski Vacation

Boston had a great time skiing. He learned to make a wedge and slow down but never wanted to actually do it because he only wanted to go fast. He was so excited to see everything around him that he didn't pay attention to where he was going so Spencer had to keep a close eye on him.
We enjoyed a horse drawn sleigh ride to a great restaurant. It was a beautiful evening, cold but calm with patchy clouds. Boston kept the people on the ride entertained with his funny comments. ("I can't see the horses or hear them but I can smell them.") The food was delicious. Boston loved the accordion and asked him to play "yellow submarine"

The outdoor pool was a great way to relax after a day of skiing.

Boston really enjoyed the elevator. We had to use it every chance we got and sometimes several times in a row.

Unibrow

Boston watched a segment of Seseme Street about eyebrows. Bert uses his "eyebrows" to show emotion. That evening he made Bert's "eyebrows" out of playdough and was showing me his angry and surprised eyebrows. It made me laugh so hard.
