Easter Morning

We planted a jelly bean last night and the Easter Bunny's magic made it grow into a lollipop.

The East Bunny brought Legos for Boston.
He knew that Boston had enough candy.

Egg Hunt

Boston had a great time at a local egg hunt.
He was surprised at all the treats he found in his eggs.

"What the heck?!"
Boston's current favorite phrase

Easter Bunny

Boston and the Easter Bunny have always been good friends.

Great Grandma Riggs

We were so happy to visit Grandma Riggs.  She just turned 94!

She was very interested in Boston's hands.
Here she is explaining how long Boston's life line is.

Saturn

Later that evening we went to the Lowell Observatory.  They have a huge telescope.  Saturn is at just the right place and just the right angle for viewing right now. So we got to see Saturn.  Boston says it looks like Mars with a rainbow around it.  It was amazing.  The rings were very clear and distinct.  I thought they would be more hazy or foggy. You could even see some of its moons.  It is so incredible that you can see something that far away so clearly. (It is my favorite part of the trip.)  We also got to see the moon through a smaller telescope. Luckily it was a full moon so we saw the whole thing.  I have not or can not remember ever seeing the moon through a telescope.  Again I was so amazed to see all the craters and seas in so much detail.  Boston was so excited he was jumping around and saying "that is so cool!" "awesome!" "wow!"  The people there really enjoyed his enthusiasm.  He has been very interested in space for a long time.  We spend a lot of time talking about the planets and rocket ships.  And we have a lot of toys and books that are all about space. It was great to have this experience with him.

The Lizard Hunter

Boston spotted a lizard while Spencer was a little a head of us.  He did not want Spencer to miss it so he decided to try to catch it himself.  You can see him trying to use Spencer's techniques however, the lizard got away.  We were glad he attempted, hopefully he is getting over his fear of animals.

Out of Africa

Another day we went to "Out of Africa".  We went on a safari where we got to feed a giraffe.  They warned us not to feed the zebras because they will chomp your fingers off, and the ostriches will steal anything shiny so hold on to your cameras and sunglasses.
Later they did a tiger show in a pool.  The handlers ran around the area with inflatable toys and tried to get the tigers to jump into the water.  Early in the show a tiger got confused and thought one of the handlers was a toy.  The tiger started to attack the trainer, the other trainers ran to pull the tiger off and there were a few tense moments.  After that I could not enjoy the show.  Boston thought the show was great.
We got to pet some snakes and hold a parrot.  Boston liked watching us feed the emu.  He has a couple of books with Emus and the main characters.  Boston wondered if these emus were Scruffy or Sneezy and thought that one was definitely Yeek!  They peck your had pretty hard and Boston declined trying it.
The exciting part of the day was watching the keepers feed the lions, tigers, bears and hyenas.  They would throw great big hunks of meat over the fences and the animals would eat them. The hyenas were interesting because they get so excited that they "laugh".  One of the lions they fed jumped clear off the ground to catch the meat
Another beautiful day in the sunshine!

Javelina

Sedona has a lot of statues of Javelinas around.
Boston was the first to find this one.

Lizard

Spencer is a master lizard catcher.  Something he has been practicing for years.  Boston is not nearly as comfortable around lizards as Spencer, which is hard on both of them.

One of Spencer's favorite tricks.

"What the heck!?"

Silly Daddy!

Sedona

We spent a day exploring Sedona, which meant shopping and hiking.
 More hiking then shopping.

We love the wind sculptures.

Boston was a little worried about the eagle.

We hiked very close to the base of Cathedral Rock in the background.  It was a long hike and Boston did a great job.  There were some kind of bird that to Boston sounded like a monkey and he kept calling back to them.  He loved climbing up the rocks and following Spencer everywhere.

Got to throw rocks!

A long day!
We had a great time exploring and spending some time in the sunshine.

Back and Forth

Flagstaff had a playground just like ours.
 Boston thought it was great!

Flagstaff

Spencer's work sent him to Flagstaff for two weeks to manage the hotel while the general manager was recovering from surgery.  Boston and I tagged along for a vacation.  We made a few stops on the 9 hour drive to stretch our legs.  Boston thought that Tuba City would be a fun place to visit.  Unfortunately it was too far out of the way.

April Fools

You can already imagine the trouble these two are going to get into.
